Racing Profile:

Dustin began his racing career, not so much in the limelight as a driver, but he was known for his expertise in chassis and suspension set-ups. As he was only 11 years old when he began traveling the country helping his older brother compete in high levels of series competition, he was truly the man, or boy, behind the wrenches. As Dustin wanted to drive himself, age requirements and safety restrictions would not allow him. He would have to settle as the Crew Chief for his brother, Justin Boney.

Between the years of 1993 through 2003, Dustin predominately maintained his brothers’ racecars and learned as much as he could at the racetrack. Together, the Boney boys won over 50 feature events and 4 track championship titles at Savannah and Adrian Speedways in Missouri. Dustin was also able to experience the extreme competition by following the United States Modified Touring Series, USMTS (formerly known as USMS) and accomplished three top five finishes amongst the best Modified drivers in the country. The knowledge he gained and exposure to this level of racing catapulted Dustin’s career in many ways that has given him an advantage over other not-so-lucky drivers. It was in the summer of 1996 that Dustin had the privilege of building his own racecar, although he was only able to practice because he was so young.

Dustin spent 2003 working for Jason Hughes Racing Chassis’, building racecars and traveling with USMTS. As Jason’s Crew Chief, he won 8 feature events. Dustin raced four times at the end of ‘03 at local Kansas City Speedways after returning home from Oklahoma where Hughes Racing Chassis is located.

Finally in 2004, Dustin was able to direct his attention to his own racing career to earn 11 victories in his first full season of competition. He was crowned as the Missouri State Fair Champion and competed in 22 USMTS nights of racing with 9 top tens. Dustin impressed the best of the best as he won the Fire-Cracker Extravaganza at Lakeside Speedway in July. This win was captured on camera as Full Throttle Broadcasting presented his win on local channel 38 The Spot and Metro Sports on Time Warner Cable.

The 2005 season was even more incredible than the previous year. With 15 feature victories, including several back-to-back wins in the same race weekend and finishing the year as the Capitol Federal Shoot-out Champion, Dustin proved his talents once again.

After making a mid-season decision to not run for a NASCAR Dodge Weekly Racing Series Championship, and focus on out-of-town 'money' shows, Dustin still ended his year 3rd in the points chase at the NASCAR sanctioned Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas and raced his way to earn over $35,000 in winnings.

The 2006 through 2008 racing seasons brought a whole new light to Dustin’s racing. In only his third full season of racing, Dustin was recognized as a very talented driver and earned the privilege to drive for a car-owner. Now with the pressure of having to win money to get to the next show off of his shoulders, he was able to capture 19 wins, 9 in 2008 alone, and countless top fives finishes. Together with his team, the long list of achievements include wins from many $2k – $3k to win shows where 80 or more cars attempted the pursuit of the sizeable prize. The most recent and most prestigious win came just a few weeks ago at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas. Dustin was crowned as the Jayhawk Modified Classic Champion sponsored by McCarthy Chevrolet.

Dustin has a long driving career ahead of him. When he began his full-time career, he had a huge advantage over other competitors, as he is truly a chassis expert. He knows exactly what his car will do and when, and his driving talent only compliments it!
